Alokozay Towers, Afghanistan
This multi-use project comprises two similar twin towers that consist of 24 residential levels sitting on a 6-floor-height podium. The residential towers provide 432 units, varying from 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-bedrooms, plus duplexes, while the podium provides 10,500sqm of retail mall, in addition to 650 parking spaces and all mechanical/electrical requirements.
This special project is the first on its kind in the city of Kabul, Afghanistan, considering its unique height and mixed-use purposes. Furthermore, this project approaches the cultural issues related to privacy, security and architectural simplicity of the city.
The architectural concept, designed by the world-class architecture and interior design firm dwp, was derived from the idea of simple layering that shelters the residential spaces. These layers start out flat and gradually escalate to a deep curve that creates special units, with variety of views, at the top. This layering runs all the way from the ground level to the buildings summit, and through the podium to create the mall gate, and defining the entry of this unique project.
