Vietnam Int. University Township (VIUT), Vietnam
Vietnamese developer, Beraya Land, called upon world-class architecture and interior design firm dwp, to devise the masterplan for a new 50ha township. In phase I, dwp has designed the plan for 290,000sqm of affordable housing with supporting commercial outlets, facilitating a community of 5,860 inhabitants.

These planning parameters generate a relatively low building density in comparison to other similar projects in Vietnam, resulting in large open-air spaces and generous plot sizes. The structure plan for VIUT phase 1 is centered around three principal themes: connectivity to adjoining VIUT land-uses by means of landscaped corridors; providing building typologies with a civic character; and establishing a framework for sustainable development within the overall masterplan.
Connectivity between residential zones are defined mainly by the two green spines enhanced by public parks, pedestrian underpasses, water bodies, indigenous tropical plant species, contemporary streetscaping, as well as a series of open structures providing shade and generating communal activity.

Location: Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Size: 290,000sqm (Phase I - 25ha, Phase II - 25ha)
Completion: Phase I August 2012
