International architecture and interior design firm dwp were called upon to create the interiors, graphics and facade of the new innovative retail store 'The Style by Toyota', including lower ground to third floor levels in Central Bangkok.

This turnkey project was to be aimed at a young and energetic crowd, reflecting the movement and speed of automobiles. dwp, therefore, opted for a dynamic design, with emphasis on motion, utilising the Toyota signature corporate colour red, as a key accent. For a sophisticated appeal, this was toned down with a palette of white, grey and black.

Toyota required an edutainment space, providing display areas, hands-on exhibition space, with the latest Toyota technology, including a free-standing stage and DJ booth. Movement and speed were translated into a ribbon feature, wrapping around the entire project for a modern, futuristic environment, enticing to a younger audience.

Into the design, dwp incorporated some standout features, such as the custom-designed cylinder capsule lift, entwined by an artistic spiral staircase with modeled bannister, as well as integrated multi-media gadgets throughout the store. This all ensured outstanding communication and flow between for the four different levels, vertically linked, each with its own function.

The design was vying for LEED Platinum certification, so the team selected local materials as far as possible, and changed out existing materials, to ensure maximum sustainability, with reduced cost and energy consumption.
